As my first blog post and I hasten to add my first ever, I hope you stay long enough to hear a little about me, what I do and why I do it.
My passion for photography was rekindled during studies with The British Academy of Photography. As a result of these studies I realised that many had gone before me and I wasn’t alone in the interests of what I wanted to document via the photograph. I take inspiration from the likes of Irvin Penn, Richard Avedon, Dianne Arbus and the Nan Goldings of this world. They taught me an image could be more than just a snap shot of a ‘decisive moment’, but evoke emotion while telling a story. In future posts I hope to discuss them and others, their work and their contributions to photography.
My preferred genres are documentary and portrait photography and depending on the assignment, I shoot with either Leica or Nikon, but as the old adage goes 'the best camera you have is the one in your hand'.
Thank you for your first interaction with me at my blog and I hope to welcome you back with somewhat more 'interesting' blogs in the future.
