“The bill” refers to the controversial Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill, which the Government is attempting to bring into force.
If passed, this new bill will increase police and state powers to crackdown on protests. It is, as of today, approaching it final stages within the House of Lords, before being given Royal Assent.
Among other things, the legislation will hand powers to the police to take a ‘more proactive approach’ to managing ‘highly disruptive’ protests that are deemed to be causing too much public disturbance.
